What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! (Psalms 8:4-5 NASB)
Wow, what a boost of confidence in that passage of scripture!!!
We will be well off having no faith in who we are but every confidence in who God is! Think of our sinful nature and how often we grieve the Holy Spirit… It’s no wonder the question was asked “who is man that You thought of him?”. Our very nature since sin entered the world has fought against who God truly created us to be.
Despite ourselves, we are cared for by God and every little detail concerning us; concerns Him. If for a moment you thought that you were insignificant in the grand scope of things – think again! Realize please, this verse does not specify any race, sex, social position or other prerequisite to be crowned with glory and majesty – just that we are human. God has great plans for us and thinks more highly of us than we think of ourselves.
Ask yourself this question:
If God Himself thinks this highly of you, don’t you consider it a slap in the face for you or anyone else to undermine His decision that you are valuable?
I rest my case. You’re important and you need to start acting like it. You’re a child of God and you need to behave like it. You are the apple of God’s eyes and you need to start believing it. You must live up to the standard of the God who celebrates and cherishes you by treating yourself in the same manner; refusing to accept any less from those around you!
Live a little. Love yourself. Be a blessing!
