Pressing matters…
You can deduce two different ideas:
1. Matters of great importance
2. That pressing, is important
I need to speak with you on both!
Matters of Great Importance
Chances are, at this very moment there is something occupying your mind and clouding your spirit that is irrelevant to your purpose. Do not allow what is irrelevant to your purpose to be prevalent in your thoughts! The only pressing matters are those imprinted by God, concerning His purpose for your life; all else is irrelevant. So that thing(s) you’re worrying about just let it go because in the cosmic enigma of your existence, there is NOTHING pressing about that matter. Whatever it may be that’s worrying you! Let it go.
Pressing is Important
So you thought that when you called on Jesus trouble would forget your address? No mam, no sir! Trouble will still come, but now you’re not home alone and the one who inhabits your spirit is well equipped to keep you in all matters. You’re in good hands!
For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever. (Romans 8:13 AMP)
I was led to this scripture and got stuck at this verse, The amplified version is the only one that effectively portrays this particular scripture in it’s vast significance! Do you know how hard it is to perpetually put something to death? It is difficult to constantly be at war against our natural desires but that is exactly what we are called to do as we die to self and live for Christ.
The pressing matters! It builds our character and teaches us to trust God with total abandon! We have to get to the point where trusting God IS out nature. We may be pressed but never crushed, God keeps us in all things when we lay our cares at His feet and our burdens were never meant to be carried on our own feeble shoulders. He is faithful and just to forgive us and to sustain us through trials and tests of our faith. You cannot have great faith without enduring great distress, those moments when you have no other option but to trust God; give Him all the glory because it’s a testimony of His ability to do the impossible!
